Gemma, 30
Clock restorer based in Newcastle. Most days you'll find me at the bench coaxing life back into gears and pendulums, or outside getting mud on my boots. I balance the quiet fiddly work with rounders on the pitch, walks to spot wildflowers, and testing how much slow-cooked filling a butter pastry crust can hold without collapsing.
Basics
• Location: Newcastle upon Tyne • Occupation: Horologist / antique clock restorer • Weekends: Rounders matches, trail walks, baking savory pies • Wardrobe: Good boots, heavy knits in teal and red
What I enjoy
• Bringing things that stopped ticking decades ago back to life • Coastal walks when the wind keeps everyone else indoors • A decent pint of dark ale and conversations that don't need to be rushed
Q&A: A proper Sunday?
Morning spent walking somewhere green with a notebook for wildflowers, followed by an afternoon in the kitchen putting together a venison or root veg pie while listening to the radio.
